Muscat – Nizwa – Al Hamra (Day Trip)

Depart from Muscat in the morning and drive inland towards the historic city of Nizwa, passing through desert plains and mountain foothills. On arrival, begin your visit at the iconic Nizwa Fort, where its massive circular tower and defensive passages offer insight into Oman’s rich past along with panoramic views over the oasis and old town. Continue on foot to the nearby Nizwa Souq, a lively marketplace filled with silver jewellery, traditional daggers, pottery, dates, and spices.

After exploring Nizwa, continue westward to the traditional town of Al Hamra, one of Oman’s oldest settlements known for its well-preserved mud-brick houses and authentic rural atmosphere. Take time to stroll through the old lanes and experience daily life in a traditional Omani village.

From Al Hamra, drive into the mountains to reach the picturesque village of Misfah Al Abriyeen. Nestled on the slopes of the Al Hajar Mountains, this charming settlement is renowned for its stone houses, lush terraced farms, and falaj irrigation channels. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the village before beginning the return journey to Muscat, arriving in the evening after a culturally rich and scenic day.
