Itinerary
A scenic Muscat tour exploring the Grand Mosque, Bait Al Zubair Museum, vibrant Muttrah Souq, bustling fish market, and a photo stop at the iconic Al Alam Palace overlooking historic forts.
We begin our tour at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, an impressive landmark that took six years to complete and opened in 2001 as Oman’s largest mosque, able to host up to 20,000 worshippers. Its design combines multiple architectural influences and features stunning crystal chandeliers and vast handmade Persian carpets.
Our next stop is the Bait Al Zubair Museum, where we explore Oman’s rich heritage and gain insight into the traditional and modern lifestyles of its people.
We then drive along the scenic corniche toward the vibrant Muttrah Souq, enjoying views of the Gulf of Oman along the way.
After a brief visit to the lively fish market, we wander through the Muttrah Souq, a true shopper’s paradise filled with shops offering Omani antiques, textiles, jewelry, hardware, and other traditional goods.
Finally, we make our way to the splendid Al Alam Palace for a photo stop. Located in central Muscat, this ceremonial palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos is flanked by the historic Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts. Although the palace interiors are not open to visitors, the surrounding courtyard and gardens provide a beautiful setting for photographs.
