Arrive in Muscat and collect your rental vehicle. Begin your self-drive adventure with a visit to the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the finest examples of Islamic architecture in the region. Continue to Muttrah Souq, where narrow alleys brim with spices, handicrafts, and frankincense. Enjoy a relaxed walk along the Muttrah Corniche, overlooking the harbor and historic old town.

After breakfast, depart Muscat and drive inland through changing landscapes of plains and mountains. En route, stop at a scenic wadi to enjoy its clear pools and natural surroundings. Continue towards Wahiba Sands, where your desert experience begins. Switch to a 4WD vehicle (or meet your desert camp transfer) to enter the dunes. Enjoy dune driving, a spectacular sunset, and traditional Omani hospitality at the desert camp.

Wake up to the tranquility of the desert before driving toward Nizwa, Oman’s historic cultural capital. After breakfast, drive to the traditional village of Birkat Al Mouz, set amid lush date plantations and ancient falaj irrigation channels. Continue your ascent into the Al Hajar Mountains to Jebel Akhdar (4WD required), famous for its terraced farms, stone villages, and dramatic canyon views. Spend the afternoon exploring walking trails or simply enjoying the cool mountain climate.

Descend from the mountains and drive toward Nakhal, a peaceful oasis town. Visit the striking Nakhal Fort, set against the dramatic Hajar Mountains, and relax at the nearby hot springs. Later, continue your drive back to Muscat for your final evening in the capital.
